Two charged over caning incident in viral video

KLANG: Two men have been charged at the magistrate's court today over the battering of a man with a rattan stick on Sept 6 in which footage of the incident went viral on social media.
The duo were slapped with two charges each and both claimed trial to all charges.
Ching Chee Siong, 39, was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing voluntarily hurt by dangerous weapons.
He had used a rattan stick to hit 52-year-old odd-job labourer, Khor Meng Heong.
Ching faces up to ten years' jail, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments, if convicted.
He was also charged for criminal trespass into Khor's home, punishable under Section 447 of the Penal Code.
The offence carries a jail term of up to six months, a maximum fine of RM3,000 or both.
Magistrate Roslizi Sulaiman set bail at RM5,500 and fixed October for the case to be mentioned.
In another court, See Kean Soon, 38, who recorded the entire beating incident, was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code for abetting Ching.
If found guilty, he can be sentenced under Section 324 of the same code with a jail term of up to ten years, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments upon conviction.
See was also charged for criminal trespass into Khor's home, punishable under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to six months, a maximum fine of RM3,000 or both.
Magistrate Rozianti Mohamed Hanaphi set bail at RM6,000 and fixed Oct 13 for case mention.
