Anwar involved in traffic accident (Updated)

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was involved in a traffic accident while on his way back to the Sungai Buloh Prison from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
The Pakatan Harapan de facto leader was shaken up following the crash, but did not suffer any serious physical injuries, according to his lawyer Sivarasa Rasiah.
"The accident took place about 12.30pm at the traffic light junction near Saujana Utama. The prison officer driving the car carrying Anwar had to brake sharply to avoid an oncoming vehicle, causing the escort car behind to knock into it.
"The car carrying Anwar suffered damage mainly to its back ... He (Anwar) has taken pain killers after being examined by the doctor at the Sungai Buloh Prison," Sivarasa said in a statement today.
He said Health deputy Director-General Datuk Dr S. Jeyaindran is scheduled to visit Anwar today and decide whether further treatment was needed at the hospital.
Anwar had been hospitalised at HKL for four days due to unstable blood pressure.
Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Somu Subramaniam said that the incident happened at a traffic light junction at Saujana Utama.
"The lead car in the convoy had slammed his breaks abruptly to try and avoid a car that was trying to enter the convoy en route to the prison, Anwar's car which was behind the lead car had also slammed it's breaks abruptly and a car behind Anwar's car could not break in time and slammed in the back of the car," he informed.
He added that Anwar did not suffer any injury in the accident.
He also said that all the cars had managed to escort Anwar back to prison after the incident.
