Woman loses control of car, dies in crash

NIBONG TEBAL: A 27-year-old woman, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, was killed in an accident when her car lost control and crashed by the roadside at Jalan Sungai Bakau, Sungai Acheh.
It is learnt the incident happened about 1.50am today when the deceased, Chow Wan Yee, was driving from Sungai Bakau back to her home in Bagan Ajam.
South Seberang Perai district police chief Supt Abdul Shafee Abdul Ahmad confirmed the incident and said based on initial investigation, the deceased, who is from Jalan Thamby Kecil, Bagan Ajam, had lost control of her car and crashed by the roadside.
"The front of the deceased's car was badly damaged in the crash and she suffered major injuries to her head and body. She died on the spot.
"Police have sent her body to Parit Buntar Hospital in Kerian, Perak for post mortem by 9am today," he told reporters.
Abdul Shafee added based on further investigation, the deceased had a valid driving license.
He said hospital authorities would conduct a blood test to check whether she had been under the influence of alcohol.
Abdul Shafee said police will investigate the case under Section 41 (1) of Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
