62 people tested positive for drugs at rave in Ipoh

IPOH: Sixty-two people including 13 women and a polytechnic student tested positive for drugs after they were arrested by the police during a "rave" organised at the 7th floor of a hotel in Medan Ipoh, on Saturday night.
They were among 225 individuals comprising 123 men and 43 women aged between 18 to 35 who were detained during the operation conducted by the police from the state narcotics department.
Perak police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the team raided the premises following a public tip-off.
"A man was also arrested after he was believed to have owned ecstasy drugs while cops discovered eight drug pills and 33.5g of ganja on the floor of the premise," he said in a statement, today.
Initial investigations, Hasnan said revealed that organisers had promoted the party through WhatsApp, WeChat, and Instagram.
"It is learnt that the organisers had already organised similar parties in the past including Ipoh, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur, usually at apartments or bungalows.
"Patrons needed to pay RM58 for early bird booking or RM78 for direct entry into the party," he added.
On Friday night, police raided a rock and roll party which was held in a bungalow building in a golf course at Kempas.
Johor Baru Utara police chief, ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said, 74 party-goers were checked, 22 tested positive for drugs, aged between 16 to 33 years old.
Police also seized 12 pills of Eramin 5 and 8 Ecstasy pills from the raid.
The rock and roll party was named "Proqtext zeus", and the entry fee for male guest was RM30 and RM20 for female guests.
