Maintain peace, unity, says Sakaran

KOTA KINABALU: Former Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Sakaran Dandai wants the people, specifically Muslims to always maintain the unity and peace currently enjoyed to develop the religion, race and nation.
"We see our country has developed. This development is realised because our country is peaceful and we are at peace because we are united. The government can work and the result of this work can be enjoyed by the people.
"So, hopefully, what has been implemented by our knowledgeable and visionary leaders to develop the race and nation should be appreciated," he told reporters at the Kota Kinabalu Airport upon arrival from the federal capital here today.
Sakaran, who is also United Sabah Islamic Organisation president was the recipient of the National Maal Hijrah Figure Award from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, two days ago. — Bernama
