GEORGE TOWN: Police in Penang have nabbed two siblings and busted an artificial medicine and ecstasy pills laboratory in an anti-narcotics operation last Thursday.
State deputy police chief Datuk Roslee Chik said a 44-year-old woman was detained when investigators stormed into a house in Taman Seri Rambai, Bukit Mertajam, at 5.30pm.
He said the woman subsequently led police to another house located 500m away in the same neighbourhood, where police discovered the drug processing laboratory.
Roslee said police seized 7,135 ecstacy pills weighing 3,011grams, 2.13kg of ecstasy powder, 18kg of fake medicine, 1.3kg caffeine powder, and machines to process the pills.
During a press conference today, he said the haul was worth RM769,250.
He said the woman's brother who was also involved in the syndicate was nabbed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport about 5.15am on Friday following a tip-off.
Roslee said the man was on the verge of boarding a flight to Miri, Sarawak, in a bid to escape.
"The duo have been remanded under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said.
