PETALING JAYA: The restoration work for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad's (KTM) train services that were affected by a snapped electrical cable, will be done in stages.
In a statement today, KTM said that electricity for one rail line was successfully restored as per schedule at 8am on Sunday, while for the second line electricity was scheduled to be restored on Monday at 5am, but was postponed to 10am tomorrow.
"Repair works are being carried out between the Rawang and Kuang stations. The KTM Komuter service for Port Klang – Tanjung Malim – Port Klang route will operate with a frequency delay of between 15 to 30 minutes. There are also possibilities of train service disruption between the Sungai Buloh and Rawang station, any cancellations will be notified by KTM staff," according to the statement.
The last four train services to the Rawang and Tanjung Malim routes will be halted at the Sungai Buloh station and passengers will be taken to the Rawang station by bus and from there they will continue their journey via train.
"There are no disruptions to the Seremban – Batu Caves – Seremban route," it added.
On Saturday morning, the KTM train services suffered a major disruption after an electrical cable snapped at about 11.30am at KM361.76 on the tracks between the Rawang and Kuang stations, causing closure to both of the rail tracks.
When contacted, a KTM spokesperson said the cause of the snapped cable would be revealed once repair works are completed.
