Seven lorries, two trailers destroyed in factory fire

SHAH ALAM: Seven 10-tonne lorries and two trailers were destroyed in a fire that razed a factory at Seksyen 32, Bukit Kemuning here today morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations management officer Alimaddia Bukri said that no casualties were reported in the incident which reportedly occurred at 12.50am.
He said three fire and rescue engines were dispatched to the scene and the first fire engine arrived at the scene at 1.07am and found that several lorries had caught fire outside the factory compound.
"When the first fire engine from the Shah Alam fire department arrived, the fire was at its peak.
"Initial findings indicated that the lorries were lined with canvas while the trailers were filled with boxes.
"The blaze was finally brought under control at 2.33am and entirely doused at about 5am," he said.
Alimaddia said the cause of the fire and the losses incurred were being investigated.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Shah Alam district police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said police were informed that the seven lorries and two trailers were jointly owned by three other companies under contract for the transportation of the factory's products.
Shafien added the police and the rescuers manage to save one of the trailers from the fire.
