UK base jumper lands on roof of pedestrian walkway

SIBU: Members of the public who flocked to Dataran Bandar Sibu to witness the 2017 Sibu Base Jump show were shocked when a diver missed the landing spot during the performance at noon today.
Ben Gingold, 25, of United Kingdom landed on the roof of a pedestrian walkway near Wisma Sanyan from a platform at a height of 126m.
The victim who sustained cuts on the right hand was brought down by firemen and the Civil Defence Force as well as other divers.
He was brought to a special treatment room before being sent to Sibu Hospital.
The event was held in conjunction with 2017 Visit Sibu Year organised by Sibu Divisional Tourism Task Group with the participation of 90 domestic and foreign jumpers.
In a test jump last Friday, Australian jumper Gary Favre, 42, was injured on the leg and thigh after he was stuck at the window on the 15th floor of Wisma Sanyan.
Yesterday, Canadian jumper Braden Dean, 31, suffered a back injury when he landed badly at the square. — Bernama
