Opening night

HE MAY be one of the most polarising characters on The Big Bang Theory, but Sheldon Lee Cooper (played by Emmy winner Jim Parsons) has, over the course of 10 seasons, endeared himself to audiences in many different ways.
What makes you go "awwww" are moments when he lets slip his vulnerabilities, such as when he blurts out why he knocks three times before entering (he walked in on his father with another woman), and why he hates Christmas (as a child he asked Santa to bring his dead beloved Grandpa back but did not get his wish).
He is also constantly bullied by his older brother and twin sister, is doted upon by his over-protective grandmother, has a contentious, yet loving, relationship with his religious mother, never got to bond with his father who died when he was a teen, and essentially lacked any real friends before Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) became his roommate.
From then on, it was one adventure (or misadventure) after the next, with his new friends – aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar).
It also warms our hearts to watch this socially-inept genius physicist bloom in the series, and find love in neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), whom he proposed to in the season 10 finale.
While Sheldon and his friends return tonight with the premiere of season 11 at 8.15pm on Warner TV (Astro channel 719), fans can also look forward to the premiere of its spin-off series, Young Sheldon, at 8.40pm.
Young Sheldon will take us to back long before Sheldon started living in Pasadena, California, working at Caltech, and finding friends who understand him better than anybody else.
Set in 1989, we meet nine-year-old genius Sheldon Lee Cooper (played by Iain Armitage), who is often misunderstood by his own family, neighbours, and classmates.
The series will revolve around his innocent-yet-awkward day-to-day encounters in East Texas, where he lives with his family and attends high school.
Fans might already know that Zoe Perry, who plays Mary Cooper (Sheldon's mother in Young Sheldon), is the daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who portrays Mary Cooper on The Big Bang Theory.
Aside from these two comedy shows, if you like action series, then look out for The Brave, a 13-episode series that also premieres tonight at 10pm, the same day as the US, on Cinemax (Astro channel 412).
The Brave revolves around First Lieutenant Adam Dalton (Mike Vogel) and his heroic Special Operations squad of highly-trained undercover military specialists who carry out on-ground missions across the globe.

His team consists of skilled sniper Sergeant Jasmine 'Jaz' Khan (Natacha Karam), Chief Petty Officer Ezekiel 'Preach' Carter (Demetrius Grosse ), combat medic Sergeant Joseph 'McG' McGuire (Noah Mills), and intelligence officer Agent Amir Al-Raisani (Hadi Tabbal).
They carry out various missions such as hostage rescues, intelligence gathering, protecting the lives of the innocent, and capturing or killing the world's most vicious warlords.
The team works hand-in-hand with the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), which is headquartered in Washington DC.
Led by Deputy Director Patricia Campbell (Anne Heche) and her team of analysts, the DIA wields the world's most advanced surveillance technology to identify threats and oversee often dangerous covert missions.
