Five-year-old falls from sixth floor apartment

SHAH ALAM: A brief absence of a father at his home led to the death of his five-year-old son who fell to his death from the sixth floor of an apartment.
The victim was found dead on the ground floor of the apartment at Section U11 here today.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said in the 12.10am incident, the victim's family was unaware the boy had climbed on a sitting toilet which was in front of an open window.
"The boy fell through the window. During the incident, the victim's father was in the apartment's lobby to meet a friend while the victim's three-year-old brother was asleep.
"The victim's mother passed away four months ago," he said in a statement today.
He said the victim's body was sent to the Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem at 1.30am today.
Shafien said the case is classified as sudden death as no elements of foul play was found in the case.
Earlier this year, on Feb 12, a kindergarten student, was found dead on the ground floor of a teachers' quarters at Jalan Kebun, Section 32 here.
He suffered broken limbs and a fractured skull.
It is learnt that he was playing at home in the presence of his mother, a teacher, and his stepfather when the freak incident occurred.
