Malaysian held for assaulting couple kissing outside Rome mosque

PETALING JAYA: A 24-year-old Malaysian was arrested on Sunday night for assaulting a couple for kissing near an Islamic centre in Rome.
The Malaysian shoved the woman before punching and kicking the man, Rome police said.
"You can't kiss here in front of the mosque," the unnamed Malaysian was alleged to have shouted at the couple before attacking them.
According to Ansa news agency, the Malaysian allegedly went for the two police officers at the scene. One of the officers was said to bruised.
The assailant faces charges of assault and of resisting a public official. Police are investigating "the extent of radicalisation" of the Malaysian, who is resident in Rome, according to the romatoday.italy website.
