SERDANG: More than 3,000 vacancies in agriculture and agro-based industries will be offered at the Agro Job Fair at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) here in conjunction with the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (Maha) 2017 exhibition from tomorrow until Oct 1.
The programme, organised by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry in collaboration with JobsMalaysia will be held from 10am to 5pm at Hall A, MAEPS.
The ministry's Agriculture Skills Training Division director Mohd Sufian Sulaiman said nearly 70 companies would offer vacancies in the field of agro-food including food processing, aquaculture, poultry and ruminants.
In addition to the agricultural sector, he said there would also be job offers in the food, culinary and hospitality sectors.
"Those who are looking for work need to bring resumes and dress appropriately to get direct placement at the companies and agencies involved.
"The Agro Job Fair proves that the country does not rely heavily on foreign workers, and we are opening opportunities for local workers to meet the needs of the labour market," he said in a statement.
He said the job fair was open to all job seekers especially in agriculture, including school leavers, graduates, single mothers and school dropouts.
Those who are interested can visit the official Facebook page of the National Agricultural Training Council (NATC) for more information, including on the list of employers and vacancies to be offered. — Bernama
