KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a man who allegedly obstructed and threatened council enforcement personnel and bystanders after his car was clamped in Taman Segar Cheras, Cheras here on Monday.
Cheras district police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said in the 12.46pm incident, two Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers and two men from a private company appointed to clamp vehicles parked illegally were carrying out their duties.
"The suspect parked his car outside the designated bay and DBKL officers clamped his car.
"Moments later, the officers received a call from the DBKL call centre ordering them to open the clamp as the suspect wanted to pay his fine.
"When the officers went to release the car, a misunderstanding broke out between them and they began to push and shove each other," he said today.
Chong said police are investigating the case under Section 186 and 506 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties and criminal intimidation.
The 38-year-old suspect, who is also an e-hailing services driver, is expected to be remanded tomorrow.
