KUALA LUMPUR: Two suspects in the arson attack on the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz (religious school) in Kampung Datuk Keramat here will be charged in court on Thursday, said Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh.
The Kuala Lumpur police chief said the two will be charged under Section 302 of the penal code with murder.
"The other five suspects will be charged under Section 15(1) of the dangerous drugs act and we have received instructions from the Attorney General's chambers that they will be charged tomorrow," said Amar.
Seven boys, aged 11 to 18, were arrested for setting the Tahfiz School on fire.
On Sept 14, a fire broke out at the school in Jalan Keramat Ujung in Datuk Keramat, here.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh at a press conference on Sept 16, said the seven boys had allegedly set the school on fire because they were believed to have been mocked by its students.
Six of the suspects had tested positive for drugs. They had been arrested on Sept 15.
