MyBIM application helps society to learn sign language

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Sign Language Mobile Application (MyBIM) was launched today to enable society to learn the sign language by downloading the application on to smart phones to communicate with the hearing impaired.
Women, Family and Community Development deputy Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said the development of the application for learning sign language was very relevant to enable the hearing impaired community to enjoy a life of prosperity from the aspect of communication.
"We want an inclusive society including in terms of communication and it is hoped the MyBIM application can close the communication gap between the hearing impaired and society," she said when launching the application here today.
The MyBIM application was developed by the Malaysian Federation of the Deaf (MFD) with a financial support of RM1.5 million from the Sime Darby Foundation, containing 36 categories of learning of sign language words including special words used in Malaysia.
The public can download for free the application on their smart phones from today via Google Play Store for Android users and App Store for iPhone users. — Bernama
