Lorry driver jailed three months for threatening to kill wife

PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver with three children was sentenced to a total of six months jail by the Magistrate's Court here today for threatening to kill his wife and causing injury to the woman.
Magistrate Fadzlin Suraya Mohd Suah handed down the sentence on K. Chanderan after the man changed his plea to guilty on both charges.
He was sentenced to three months' jail on each count, to be served concurrently from today.
On the first count, Chanderan was charged with intimidating his wife, A. Logeswari, 35, who is a clerk, at the management office of Vista Millenium Puchong Perdana, Bukit Puchong, at 11.30am on Vov 9 last year.
The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to seven years, or fine, or both, upon conviction.
He was also charged with voluntarily causing hurt on the woman by punching her face and pulling her hair at the same place, date and time.
The charge, under Section 326A of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Natasha Chin Le Jy prosecuted, while lawyer Liah Asul represented Chanderan.
In the same court, a rubber tapper, Ridzuan Hasan, 30, was sentenced to a month's jail for failing to produce his identity card at the Sea Park police station, Petaling Jaya here, at 3.30pm last Sept 27. — Bernama
