Selangor Sultan presents instrument of appointment of Selangor Syarie Chief Judge

SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today presented the instrument of appointment as Selangor Syarie Chief Judge to Mohammad Adib Hussain in a ceremony at Istana Bukit Kayangan here.
The appointment, effective on July 3, 2017, is made under Section 56 of the Islamic Religious Administration Enactment (Selangor) 2003.
Also present at the ceremony were Selangor Mufti Datuk Mohd Tamyes Abd Wahid, Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Haris Kasim, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor and Selangor state executive council member Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad.
Prior to being appointed the Selangor Syarie Chief Judge, Mohammad Adib was Selangor Syariah High Court Senior Judge. He replaced Adjunct Professor Datuk Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, who has been promoted to Syariah Appeal Judge at the Malaysia Syariah Judicial Department.
At the ceremony, Sultan Sharafuddin also presented instrument of appointment to three permanent panel members of the Selangor Syariah Appeal Court, namely judges Mohd Na'im, Saarani Ismail and Mohd Amran Mat Zain.
Then sultan also handed over the instrument of appointment as Selangor Syariah High Court judges to Zulfikri Yasoa (rpt: Yasoa) and Abdul Shukor Abd Hamid.
Others who received their letters of appointment today included seven Selangor Syariah Lower Court judges, Selangor Syariah Lower Court assistant registrars and three registrars of Islamic Marriage, Divorce and Reconciliation. — Bernama
