KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has received a resignation letter from national men’s doubles coach, Jeremy Gan.
BAM president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the letter came with a three-month notice.
However, he did not divulge the actual reason for the resignation but thought it was made based on personal matters.
“We received his resignation letter today. I believe he has his own reasons. Men’s doubles chief coach Cheah Soon Kit has been informed.
“We need to wait and see what Soon Kit does after this,” he said after chairing a BAM council meeting at the Malaysian Badminton Academy in Bukit Kiara here today.
Prior to this, BAM technical director, Morten Frost Hansen had resigned, giving a six-month notice and citing personal reasons.
Among Gan’s biggest contributions to the national badminton squad was to deliver the silver medal to the nation at the Rio Olympic Games, via Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong.
Currently, the national men’s doubles squad will continue to be handled by Soon Kit and Rosman Razak. — Bernama
