KUALA LUMPUR: The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Peninsular Malaysia organised the inaugural Ink Run 2017 yesterday (Sept 30) to promote a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians.
The event which was held at Universiti Malaya, drew 300 runners from both the media and public, competing in three categories ... the 3km, 5km and 10km.
Participants from all walks of life and various ages arrived at the venue area as early as 6am for the 7am flag off.
The top three runners who crossed the finishing line for each category received a MYTV decoder, which provides free digital terrestrial television via MyFreeview.
Participants who finished their run but failed to grab the top three spots did not return home empty handed as they were given a special Ink Run 2017 medal, T-shirt and a special Ink Run water bottle.
NUJ president Mohd Taufek Razak said the programme was organised in support of the government's effort in promoting healthy and fit lifestyles.
He added that the run was also the best platform to gather local media practitioners from various agencies in a single sporting event.
"The run also opened up opportunities for media members to interact with those from the public sphere," he said.
Mohd Taufek hoped that the event could be held annually.
