TAIPING: The state government is confident the Taiping Heritage Orienteering Race (Thor) 2017 will put Taiping on the tourism map.
Perak Tourism, Culture, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said the programme could generate national development in the tourism sector around Taiping town which is famous for its tourist attractions such as Maxwell Hill and Taiping Lake Park.
"I hope the Community College Education Department, in collaboration with the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), can make this programme an annual event in Taiping Heritage Town that has a positive impact on the community and country," he said at the closing ceremony of Thor 2017 yesterday.
Some 120 participants from Polytechnic and Community Colleges nationwide took part in the run as part of efforts to promote Taiping as a national heritage tourism destination in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017. –Bernama
