Police nab 49 individuals for running unlicensed public lottery

JOHOR BARU: Police detained 49 people believed to be involved in organising unlicensed public lottery activities in 49 raids under the "Ops Dadu Khas" operation throughout Johor last night.
Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said all the suspects, comprising men and women, aged between 18 and 67.
"Police also seized RM3,224 in cash believed to be the betting money, 49 mobile phones of various brands, 49 printers and 161 sheets of papers in various sizes with numbers written on them," he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Khalil said all the suspects were being investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
The police had conducted 1,528 raids on commercial premises and private properties believed to be running unlicensed public lottery activities from January to August this year, he added. — Bernama
