DAMANSARA: KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital (KPJ Damansara) yesterday marked the beginning of its 20th anniversary celebrations with the launch of its corporate social resposibility platform under the banner #DamansaraCare.
Various community-oriented programmes will be carried out under this banner. The goal is to provide a fund-raising platform that will assist identified Non Government Organisations (NGOs) reach out to those in need, both at home and abroad.
Three specific NGOs have been identified as beneficiaries of #DamansaraCare, namely Imam Response & Relief Team (Imaret), Mercy Malaysia and Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA).
All three humanitarian organisations provide medical relief to disaster or conflict struck areas. Equally important is the fact that each of these three agencies is spearheaded by the hospital's very own medical consultants, i.e. Dato' Dr Musa Nordin, a paediatrician and neonatologist; Dato' Dr Faizal Mohd Perdaus, consultant physician and respiratory medicine and Dr Mohd Daud Sulaiman, a cardiologist.
A link from www.kpjdamansara.com.my/damansaracare/ will take participants and donors to the contribution page of the three NGOs.
This event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya, Deputy Minister of Health. The senior management of both KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ) as well as from KPJ Damansara were also present.
In his speech, Tuan Haji Aminudin Dawam, Executive Director of KPJ Healthcare said, "Two decades ago, KPJ Damansara opened its doors in June 1997 as the eighth in the KPJ Healthcare network of hospitals.
"Since then, KPJ Damansara has grown by leaps and bounds. It pioneered bariatric surgery for the Group and is the only KPJ hospital to have its own fully comprehensive Fertility Centre complete with laboratory and minor operation theatre. In addition, KPJ Damansara is widely known for its paediatrics and neonatology, cardiology, gastroenterology and orthopaedic services. These are only a few of the services offered, catering to the needs of a growing community."
Under the #DamansaraCare CSR platform, the first fund-raising exercise is via a social media campaign - #LoveSlapDSH challange. The objective of #LoveSlapDSH is to get pledges of donations from participants, in exchange for a loving slapping gesture by someone they care. They can then tag another person on social media within 24 hours and challenging them to take part in the challenge or donate or do both.
Cik Fawziah Muhammad, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KPJ Damansara said, "It is anticipated that the #LoveSlapDSH challenge will catch on as a viral campaign, therefore providing more pledges to the NGOs". — Bernama
