Penang govt's first affordable housing project to be completed by end of 2017

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government's first affordable housing project in Bandar Cassia, Batu Kawan is scheduled to be completed with strata titles by end of this year.
State Housing Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the 520 units of homes in South Seberang Prai district under Affordable Housing Scheme (AHS) will be ready by December.
He added the units are priced below RM300,000 and will obtain the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) in a few months.
He said this phase One project which started July 2014 is about 98% completed.
"We will be first state to comply with this new requirement," he said after accompanying Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to a signing of sale and purchase agreement by purchasers of affordable homes at Dua Residensi, Teluk Kumbar.
The overall Bandar Cassia project comprises of a total of 11,800 residential units and 200 shop lots.
Jagdeep said the affordable home project in Teluk Kumbar was now about 58% complete and scheduled for completion by third quarter of next year.
He said strata titles with vacant possession will also be issued to the buyers once the 694 units are completed.
