Two RMN personnel allege injuries sustained under detention (Update)

IPOH: Another two Royal Malaysian Naval (RMN) personnel who sustained injuries allegedly after being abused at the naval detention centre in Sungai Wangi, Sitiawan have been admitted to the Manjung hospital.
Two navy personnel aged 29 and 37, were remanded on Sunday to assist in the probe.
On Friday, Nik Muhammad Baihaqy Nik Mat, 28, and Muhammad Lailatuliman Mohd Syukri, 26, who were sent to the detention centre earlier, died on Friday after allegedly being tortured.
Following the incident, three detention centre guards aged 29, 37, and 44, were detained on Saturday. Their remand expires on Oct 7.
Perak police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the injuries suffered by the victims were similar to that of the two deceased naval personnel.
"We are in the process of recording statements from them," he told reporters after attending the state-level Warriors Day celebration here today.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
Hasnan also said a forensic investigation is being carried out by the Bukit Aman police headquarters and Perak CID personnel on the CCTV recording obtained from the centre.
Nik Muhammad was on a 45-day detention period after being found guilty under Section 58 of the Armed Forces Act 1972 for failure to perform duties.
Muhammad Lailatuliman had failed to report for duty without prior leave approval.
Police had recorded statements from 11 guards, seized seven batons, log books and handphones as part of their investigation.
