2017 Malaysian Journalism Award open for participation

KUALA LUMPUR: Participation in the 2017 Malaysian Journalism Award (HKM) organised by the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) is now open, with the retention of 20 categories to be contested.
MPI operations and corporate senior manager Norlida Jamain said participation for the 37th edition had opened yesterday (Oct 2) and the MPI Secretariat was prepared to receive journalistic works which had been published this year (2017) from local media practitioners.
She said MPI welcomed nominations from media organisations, institutions of higher learning or non-governmental organisations for the Tokoh Wartawan Negara, Anugerah Media (Media Award) and Anugerah Khas Juri (Special Jury Award) categories by submitting a complete profile of candidates with justification of nomination.
"The main condition is that the journalist works full-time and his media organisation is registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia," she said in a statement here today.
For candidates who had passed on, Norlida said a qualified participation was valid for a year after the demise.
The closing date of participation for the 2017 HKM is Jan 16, 2018 while the 2017 HKM award presentations will be held on the Malaysian Journalists Night which is expected to take place in early May, 2018.
