SHAH ALAM: Six types of poison including an erectile dysfunction drug were discovered in Kim Jong-Nam's blood samples in addition to the VX (nerve agent) poison, the High Court heard, today.
Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) head of Forensics Department Dr Mohd Shah Mahmood, who resumed his testimony in the trial agreed with defence counsel Gooi Soon Seng when asked on the six types of poisons in Jong-Nam's blood sample contained in the post-mortem report.
The poisons, he agreed derived from different medications being taken for gout, hypertension and diabetes, adding that Viagra was also found in the blood sample.
Dr Shah also confirmed that several specimens including six bottles which contained Jong-Nam's blood sample, eye mucosa and facial swab which were tendered in court had contained the VX (nerve agent) poison following tests conducted by the Chemistry Department.
Other evidence tendered in court included samples of Jong-Nam's urine, T-shirt, bandage and soiled underwear.
High Court judge Datuk Azmi Ariffin suspended the trial for twenty minutes in order to allow the defence team to inspect the contents of the tendered evidence.
Dr Shah further testified that the VX (nerve agent) poison is considered to be a highly dangerous type of chemical weapon with chances of survival for a person being "very slim" should they come into contact with the poison.
Based on the chemical report, he said the poison found on the victim was concentrated around his eyes and face.
Defence counsel Gooi Soon Seng questioned Dr Shah's conclusion that Jong-Nam had died of VX poisoning, and cited heart failure or asphyxiation as possible causes of death.
"No (I can't rule out heart attack as a possible cause of death), but it does not affect my findings," Dr Shah said.
Gooi however reiterated that the conclusion that Jong-Nam died fue to VX (nerve agent) poisoning was not for Dr Shah but for the judge to decide.
Meanwhile, deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin requested High Court judge Datuk Azmi Ariffin to reinstate contents which were expunged in the autopsy report.
He had said that the five paragraphs contained in the history and conclusion sections that were expunged was vital to the prosecution's case.
This, he explained, as it contained interview excerpts with the doctors who had treated the deceased as well as the policeman who initially brought Jong-Nam to the Menara clinic at klia2 on Feb 13.
Siti Aisyah, 25, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28 along with four others still at large, were charged with the murder of Kim Chol, 45, at the KL International Airport 2 (klia2) departure hall at 9am on Feb 13 this year.
