KTV hostess’ eyeball popped out after stiletto kicks

A PART-TIME hostess at a KTV in Singapore was blinded in one eye after she was kicked by a colleague wearing 14.5cm stiletto heels.

Nur Lena Rahmat's left eyeball popped out of its socket after she was repeatedly kicked in the face by Siti Zahara Afifi Abdul Karim, 28, at their workplace in the early hours of Oct 8, 2015.

The 30-year-old Nur Lena felt the heel hit her eyelid twice before it went into her eye, the court was told on Tuesday.

The New Paper reported that she shouted out: "I cannot see, I cannot see".

Deputy Public Prosecutor Joshua Rene Jeyaraj said there was a scuffle where both Siti Zahara and Nur Lena fell to the floor at 3.20am.

Although one of the two witnesses tried to intervene, Siti Zahara continued kicking at Nur Lena.

The victim underwent treatment for the injury at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Her left eye was removed and an orbital implant done. She was discharged on Oct 16 that year.

She sustained a left-eye permanent blindness and right-eye temporal hemianopia which means she can see only the nasal part of her visual field, the report said.

Siti Zahara was convicted of causing grievous hurt to Nur Lena. District Judge Mathew Joseph will hear lawyer Wilbur Lim's mitigation plea and the prosecution's submissions on sentence on Oct 31.

The maximum penalty is four years' jail and a S$10,000 (RM31,000) fine.
