SHAH ALAM: Police have initiated an investigation into the incident where Malaysian NGOs Coalition chairman Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos smashed several crates of beer in protest of the beer festival outside the Selangor state government office in Seksyen 14 here earlier today.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Shafien Mamat (pix) said police will look into the case under Section 143 of the Penal Code for unlawful assembly.
"Yes, we received a police report on the incident at Selangor state government office in Seksyen 14 here," he told theSun today.
He said all those involved in the incident will be investigated.
Earlier, the red shirts' leader arrived with the beer at about 10am at the main gates which were closed.
"'Today I want to send all the beer to (Selangor Mentri Besar) Azmin Ali's office. He and his gang can drink all they want inside but not anywhere outside," he said.
Jamal, accompanied by more than 20 supporters, then dumped the cartons of beer at the gates and he proceeded to smash them with a sledgehammer.
The beer cartons and bottles were pasted with a logo bearing ''The Better Beer Festival 2017'' to conceal the brand name.
He then walked off and headed to his vehicle, leaving the scene without saying a word.
A security officer from the state government office then chased Jamal and asked him to clean up the mess. However, Jamal and his group ignored the guard and left the scene.
