Rapid Bus tweaks 3 Cheras routes

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, the operator of RapidKL, has made minor adjustments to its three existing routes in Cheras to meet the needs of commuters from Taman Desa Aman, Taman Gemilang and Taman Mutiara.
Rapid Bus chief executive officer (CEO) Mohd Azam Omar said the route adjustment for 400, 401 and 450 buses that saw the inclusion of the Taman Mutiara Mass Rapid Transit Station (MRT) as one of its stops had already begun from Sept 22, following complaints by commuters who incurred difficulty in getting bus service on the particular routes.
"Personally, as Rapid Bus CEO, I am ready to do whatever 'tweaking' and expansion of the service area to satisfy customer needs.
"However, we have our own limitations including unsuitable routes for smooth journey, the number of buses and captains that we currently have, and the interests of other operators," he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Azam said, while the bus company always strived to provide the best service to commuters, it however, also depended on the result of discussions held with the authorities, especially the Land Public Transport Commission which had absolute authority to approve any change such as service areas and bus routes.
Previously, the media reported that residents at three residential areas in Cheras faced difficulty in getting public bus services following a move which saw the Taman Mutiara bus station operating for feeder buses for MRT commuters for the Sungai Buloh-Kajang line only. — Bernama
