PETALING JAYA: The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia increased to US$101.2 billion (RM427.7 billion) as at Sept 29, 2017, compared with US$100.8 billion (RM432.8 billion) as at Sept 15, 2017.
The international reserves as at Sept 29, 2017 declined in ringgit terms because of the stronger ringgit during the third quarter.
"The reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.6 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt," the central bank said in a statement.
The main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$94.8 billion), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$800 million), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.2 billion), gold (US$1.5 billion) and other reserve assets (US$2.9 billion).
