Chanel will show next Métiers d'Art collection in Hamburg

KARL Lagerfeld has picked the German city of Hamburg to present the next Chanel Métiers d'Art collection, Dec 6, the brand announced Wednesday. The location is of particular significance since it is the hometown of the legendary designer and creative director of the French fashion house.

Chanel's Métiers d'Art collections have always been unveiled in emblematic locations, carefully selected by Karl Lagerfeld, often representing moments in the fashion house's history, places dear to its founder Gabrielle Chanel, or new fashionable hotspots.

The next Métiers d'Art collection — showcasing the expertise and creativity of various artisans of the fashion industry — will be shown in Hamburg, Germany. More precisely, the show will be staged at the Elbphilharmonie, a striking new building with impressive architecture, inaugurated in Jan 2017.

As well as the spectacular appearance of the city's philharmonic — which is home to concert halls, a hotel, a restaurant and a shop — this Métiers d'Art show could hold particular significance for Karl Lagerfeld, marking a return to his hometown more than six decades after the designer left Germany for Paris.

This unique and prestigious collection has previously been shown in locations including Salzburg, Dallas, Edinborough, Rome and Paris (The Ritz). — AFP Relaxnews
