King to grace royal banquet in Brunei Darussalam

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V will attend a royal banquet at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan on Friday to mark the Golden Jubilee celebration of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's accession to the throne.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah ascended the throne on Oct 5, 1967.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that the Malaysian monarch would be joined by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
The Malaysian dignitaries will attend the royal banquet on the invitation of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah who is the Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The ministry said that Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam enjoyed close, special and brotherly relations underpinned by common and deep-rooted values and cultures that bound the two countries together.
"The participation of high-level dignitaries from Malaysia in this momentous event will certainly elevate the bilateral relations of both countries to greater heights," it added. — Bernama
