80 children, teenagers from PPR, PA selected for skills development programme

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 80 children and teenagers from three People's Housing Project (PPR) and Public Housing (PA) projects were selected to join the free-of-charge skills development programme at the Tuanku Bainun Creativity Centre for Children.
The maiden programme, which involved the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Social Welfare Department and the centre, among others, aimed to develop the minds of children and teenagers, aged seven to 18 from Seri Pantai, Seri Pahang and Desa Rejang people's housing projects.
The department director Wan Noraidah Wan Mohd Zain said the programme was to fill their free time with various beneficial activities and to prevent them from being exposed to the risks of social problems.
"We hope the selected participants will be icons in their respective PPR and PA housing area to other children and teenagers," she told reporters after the signing ceremony of memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the children creative programme collaboration between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya here today.
The MoU was signed by Wan Noraidah who represented the department and Tuanku Bainun Creativity Centre for Children general manager Raja Mazlena Raja Aziz, witnessed by the Creativity Centre for Children chairman Raja Datuk Seri Azureen Sultan Azlan Shah. — Bernama
