Boy found drowned after falling off bridge

ALOR STAR: A five-year-old boy who had fallen into a river while playing on top of a narrow bridge in Kampung Lanai, Baling yesterday, was found drowned today.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer, Fire Superintendent Mohamad Mustakim Mokhtar said the body of Mohammad Aminuddin Mohamad Nazri was found about four km from the scene at 10.54am.
"We received an emergency call at 4.59pm yesterday, and conducted the search and rescue operation in the river but did not find the victim and the operation was postponed at 7pm, yesterday.
"The operation resumed today and the victim was found by a team from a non-governmental organisation, Yayasan Amal Jariah Sik that also searched the victim since yesterday.
The victim's body was handed over to police for further action," he said in a statement today.
In the 4.50pm incident yesterday, it is understood that the victim was playing on top of the narrow bridge, which has been used by the villagers to cross the river, before he fell into the river. — Bernama
