Eighty poor people receive Deepavali goodies from NSWO

SEREMBAN: A total of 80 recipients from the low-income group comprising senior citizens received contributions in conjunction with the coming Deepavali festival here today.
The needy people obtained contributions in the form of daily essential goods including rice, sugar, cooking oil, rice flour and sari presented by Negri Sembilan Women's Organisation (NSWO) president Datin Seri Salbiah Tengku Nujumudin.
The annual event organised by Pekerti Negeri Sembilan, NSWO and Kelana Resort Seremban was attended by the wife of MIC president Datin Seri Dr S. Umarani.
Salbiah, who is also Pekerti Negeri Sembilan president, said the programme focused on welfare and welbeing of the community for Deepavali as well as other festivals for the needy as an action plan of the NSWO .
"NSWO also focused on giving assistance to patients in hospitals. flood and fire victims as well as single mothers and the poor," she said. — Bernama
