Police nab teenage member of house-breaking gang

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 17-year-old youth, who is believed to be a member of a housebreaking and robbery gang, was detained by police at a house in Jalan Changkat Damai, Taman Permata, here at midnight, last night.
Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) District police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police detained the school dropout in a raid at 12.30am.
"The youth admitted to involvements in house-breakings and robberies with an accomplice since several months ago in SPT and Seberang Perai Selatan," he said.
He said the suspect claimed the booties from the house-breakings and robberies were with his accomplice, a 19-year-old youth, and effort to nab the latter was being carried out.
Meanwhile, Nik Ros Azhan said police detained a 42-year-old car thief, with six crime records, when he was trying to drive off with a stolen pickup in Jalan Sungai Lokan near here Thursday at 1pm. — Bernama
