Death of family of four classified as murder-cum-suicide (Updated)

JOHOR BARU: Police have classified as murder-cum-suicide, the incident where a family of four were found dead in a double storey house in Mutiara Rini, Skudai, on Oct 6.
R. Pubalan, 52, a liquor trader was found hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom, while his wife, P. Jeya was found dead, with red spots on her neck, lips, and eyes.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Noor Hashim Mohamad said, post mortem revealed she died due to hard pressure on her neck.
The bodies of their children P. Sharveen, 14, and Krishaa Priteena, 9, were found in another bedroom, with strangulation marks on their necks.
The tragedy took place on Friday morning, a friend visited their rented house around noon and alerted the police at 2.30pm on the same day.
Pubalan’s elder brother, Seeladorai, 56, from Kedah, described Pubalan as a loving husband and a caring father.
"It is hard to imagine he would killed his family members,” he said.
He added, it only recently came to light that Pubalan’s wife had started dialysis treatment.
It is learnt that Pubalan had suffered a decline in business since his wife suffered kidney failure two years ago.
Their remains were sent to Taiping from the Sultanah Aminah mortuary at 6pm yesterday.
