Misappropriation of rural project funds: 3 more individuals remanded

KOTA KINABALU: Three individuals from two political parties have been remanded for five days effective today to assist in investigations into misappropriation of RM180 million of RM1.5 billion meant for rural projects in Sabah.
Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus issued the order after granting the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)'s application to remand the three individuals until Oct 14 under Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009.
The three who were detained yesterday are among six individuals being held to assist in the investigations.
The magistrate also extended the remand on a local political leader and a businessman who were earlier held for five days, for another four and three days respectively.
Meanwhile, the RM1.5 billion was part of federal government allocations totalling RM7.5 billion for a certain ministry to implement rural projects in Sabah from 2009 till 2015. — Bernama
