Six men in police custody for rioting

IPOH: The police have detained six men for rioting and injuring a man at an entertainment outlet in Medan Tasek Perdana here last Saturday.
The suspects aged between 37 and 49 were picked up that evening in the city.
The police arrested six local men believed to be involved in a riot and for injuring a man at an entertainment centre in Medan Tasek Perdana here, about 2am on Saturday.
Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the arrests followed a report by the 32-year-old victim who alleged a group of men armed with machetes had caused a ruckus and demanded a monthly sum of RM2,000 at the entertainment centre.
He said when the victim questioned the six men why they were causing a commotion at the entertainment outlet, he was beaten up, resulting in injuries on the right hand and eyes.
"The suspects have been remanded until tomorrow," he told reporters after the Ipoh Police Headquarters Monthly Assembly at the Pasir Puteh Police Station here today.
In a separate case, the police detained two of four men believed to be members of a notorious gang of robbers dubbed, 'Gang Anuar' in connection with robbing a collector of branded items here on Sept 27.
The two suspects, in their early 40's, were picked up in the city, three days after the victim, in his 60's, reported to police he was robbed of three Omega watches, Louis Vuitton bag, mobile phone, three rings and cash totalling RM63,000.
According to Sum, on the day of the robbery, the victim met four men who arrived in a car in front of a karaoke centre in Station 18 here for a branded watch transaction.
"The victim was asked get into the car to see the watch. However, as soon as he entered the vehicle, he was tied up and beaten and his cash and valuables taken," he said, adding that the man was taken to Jalan Sungai Siput Selatan where he was forced out of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the police have sought Qhyirull Anwar Ayub, 29, and Mohamad Fauzxi Adris, 23, to facilitate investigations into the robbery.
Qhyirull Anwar's last known address was Lot 177, Lorong Jelapang 44/5, Jelapang Tambahan Heights, Ipoh, while Mohamad Fauzi was known to have stayed at No: 9588, Lahar Tiang, Kepala Batas, Penang. — Bernama
