ISKANDAR PUTERI: Two traffic policemen have been put on desk duties after they were found to be flirting with a woman while on duty.
State police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said the decision was made after a video clip of the incident went viral on social media.
"Both have been removed from the Segamat patrol unit after we received information of the clip on Monday. However, we need to investigate more before further action is taken."
He said the duo have been given desk duties and will not have any interaction with the public.
Mohd Khalil said such incidents will have a negative impact on the public's perception of the police.
"It is true that policemen need to collect information in entertainment centres, but mind you, they are on duty, to collect information," he said.
The incident comes days after seven cops in the state were transferred to other departments after they were caught on video "having fun" at an entertainment centre at Pusat Perniagaan Bakri, Muar.
The nine-second recording was circulated on Sunday morning through the Facebook account "Koleksi Viral".
It is understood that one of the policemen is an inspector, who heads the Pagoh police station. The others are said to be a corporal, four lance corporals and a detective corporal.
