SHAH ALAM: CCTV videos of Kim Jong-Nam being attacked by both suspects and clips of them hurrying away afterwards at the KLIA2 were presented to the High Court, here, today.
Investigating officer from the Sepang district police headquarters, ASP Wan Azirul Nizam Che Wan Aziz told the court that while first suspect Siti Aisyah, 25, cannot be identified in the video during the attack, subsequent clips presented showed what appears to be her escaping from the crime scene in a different direction.
Several clips presented by deputy public prosecutor Wan Shahrudin Wan Ladin showed the second suspect Doan Thi Huong, 29, more prominently as she was seen leaving the scene and heading towards the toilet with her hands described by Wan Azirul Nizam as being in an “uncomfortable” position.
Both women were apparently captured leaving different toilets with their hands in a normal position and were seen leaving separately from the airport via separate taxis.
The High Court also viewed the video of Jong-Nam, who was seen arriving at the departure hall of KLIA2 on the morning of Feb 13 and moving to a check-in area just moments before the attack.
An obscure video also showed a woman, identified in court by Wan Azirul Nizam as Doan, is seen approaching Kim at the check-in counter and clasps both hands on his face from behind.
Wan Azirul Nizam told the court while Siti cannot be seen attacking Jong-Nam, he identified her as a person seen in the video running away in a different direction.
Based on another clip, he also told the court that Doan appeared "aggressive" and didn't apologise to Jong-Nam like she did to another person she approached in a similar manner two days earlier.
That encounter was described by the prosecution as a practice session for smearing Jong-Nam’s face with VX nerve agent.
Videos of Siti engaging in a meeting over drinks with an unidentified man wearing a black cap at Bibik Heritage restaurant prior to the murder was also shown to the court.
Wan Azirul Nizam also told the court that US$100,000, which was found in Jong-Nam’s knapsack, has since been kept in a safe at the Sepang police district headquarters.
The court then adjourned after Wan Azirul Nizam said he was unwell and had to take leave from court.
Meanwhile, defence counsel Datuk Hisyam Teh Poh Teik called on High Court judge Datuk Azmi Ariffin to expunge certain words such as “aggressive”, “attack”, and “nervous” which was uttered by the witness during his testimony on the video clips.
However, Azmi ruled that he will consider the matter during the final submission by the defence.
