Malacca plans herbal health centre in Kuala Linggi

ALOR GAJAH: The state government has proposed to set up a health centre based on herbs and their pharmaceutical products at the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) in Kuala Linggi.
Malacca Agriculture and Entrepreneurial Development Committee chairman Datuk Hasan Rahman said the centre would be the state government's pilot project and the first of its kind in the country.
"This is a pledge of the state government that the Kuala Linggi district will not be left behind in agricultural sector transformation efforts so that it will be more competitive at the state and international levels," he told reporters today.
He said this after launching Mardi Customers Day which was also attended by Mardi director-general Datuk Dr Sharif Haron.
Meanwhile, Sharif said the Kuala Linggi Mardi station would not only provide spa services based on herbs but would also be a one-stop centre for herbal derivatives as well as a product processing centre. — Bernama
