Man fined RM1,000 for unlawful possession of m-bike engines

PETALING JAYA: A man was fined RM1,000 or one month jail in defauly by the magistrate’s court here today, for failing to explain how he came into possession of two motorcycle engines last January.
Muhammad Izwan Zainuddin, 24, was handed the sentence by Magistrate Nurulhuda Zakariya after he changed his plea to guilty when the case came up for hearing.
He was charged under Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955 which provides for jail up to a year or maximum fine of RM1,000 or both.
Deputy public prosecutor Abu Arsalnaa Zainal Abidin appeared for the prosecution.
The accused paid the fine.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, a wireman was jailed a month by the magistrate’s court for breaking into a car accessory shop and scooting off with cash and vehicle parts.
Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid handed down the punishement to M. Devan, 32, after the accused pleaded guilty to breaking into the shop owned by Chong Yow Min, 55, at No 66, Jalan Dato Haji Eusoff, off Jalan Ipoh, Dang Wangi, here between 10pm on Sept 16 and 9.53am the next day.
The court ordered the sentence to be backdated to the date of his arrest, which was Sept 18. — Bernama
