Pakatan Harapan will not be allowed to hold rally in Padang Timur: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan will not be allowed to hold its anti-kleptocracy rally at Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (pix).
He said that as of today, police received four reports from the residents around the vicinity against the rally.
"The residents are worried the rally will cause traffic congestion. We are not allowing it for reasons of safety and due to possible overcrowding.
"I was informed that about 20,000 rally-goers are expected to gather at the area and as far as we know, the Padang Timur can only cater about 10,000 people," he said after attending an "Integrity Talk" at police training centre (Pulapol) here today.
Mohamad Fuzi suggested the organisers hold the rally at Stadium Kelana Jaya.
However, the organisers but have not responded to this.
"If the rally goes ahead, authorities will take action in accordance to the existing laws," he added.
He also confirmed that there is no possible security threat involving the rally.
Pakatan Harapan's "anti-kleptocracy" rally is scheduled to be held on Oct 14, at Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya.
The rally is to take place from 4pm until midnight.
