KUALA LUMPUR: The police force never practised the "blue wall of silence" when faced with negative elements within its force.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (pix) said the federal police aims to monitor not only the attitude but the integrity of policemen too.
"The setting up of Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) showed the department is taking punitive action against graft, cover ups, and abuse of power cases within the force.
"The department also closely monitors the level of compliance among the personnel to ensure it is at an optimum level," he said in his speech during the "Breakfast Integrity Talk" at the police training centre (Pulapol) here today.
Mohamad Fuzi also pointed out four points of focus to maintain the integrity of the police force and restore its image.

Fuzi said the first focus was to acknowledge the 'back to basics' concept, followed by maintaining integrity and for the personnel to stay away from corruption.
"I will not tolerate corruption within the force. If I have to remove a city police chief, then I will remove a city police chief," he said.
The third focus, he said, was combating illegal gambling, syndicated crime and gangsterism.
Finally, he added said it is important to focus on empowering 'intelligence-led policing'.
Fuzi stressed it is important for policemen to adhere to Section 3(3) of the Police Act, which is to preserve the sovereignty of Malaysia and security of its people.
Fuzi also gave his assurance that each police report lodged by members of the public through letters and police reports are processed and acted upon accordingly.
Those who lodge police report against practise of power abuse, would be protected under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 if necessary.
theSun recently highlighted JIPS' operations where they nabbed two police patrolmen for allegedly taking bribes from two foreign workers and four police corporals were arrested for possessing ketum juice at their police quarters.
