Two friends claim trial to disposing evidence of murder case

JOHOR BARU: Two friends pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to disposing evidence of a murder case involving both of them in September.
Factory operator D. Khishendra, 24, and security guard K. Mathan Raj, 31, entered the pleas after the charge was read out to them before Judge Kamarudin Kamsun.
They allegedly committed the offence jointly at the bus stop of Jalan Persiaran Sungai Danga, Perling at about 7.50am on Sept 21.
The charge, under Section 201 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, carries a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine, if convicted.
The judge allowed Khishendra and Mathan bail at RM12,000 and RM10,000 in one surety respectively and fixed Nov 9 for mention and submission of documents.
Deputy public prosecutor Suhaila Shafi'uddin appeared for the prosecution while Khishendra and Mathan were represented by counsel A. R. Subash and Muhammad Ashraff Mohd Diah and also Ahmad Yusri Ahmad Fuad respectively.
According to the facts of the case, the two accused were among four suspects arrested following the discovery of a man's body at the bus stop on Sept 21.
The four suspects, who were detained in different locations in Johor Baru between Sept 29 and Oct 3, were the housemates of the victim, S. Navina, 19.
The victim was believed to have been murdered over the theft money and jewellery belonging to the suspects.
The police are currently tracking down two other men, who were also the victim's housemates, and the girlfriend of one of the suspects to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — Bernama
