KUALA LUMPUR: Sunni Organisation Malaysia (Aswaja) president, Zamihan Mat Zin (pix) who is being probed for sedition after he lashed out at the Johor Sultan over a Muslim-only launderette in Johor was arrested by police today.
Federal CID director Commissioner Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd confirmed the matter and said Zamihan was detained at Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 3.50pm today.
"I can confirm that he was arrested at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
"We will apply to remand him tomorrow morning," he told theSun.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said Zamihan was being investigated under the Section 4 of the Sedition Act.
A video which has since gone viral had shown Zamihan rebuking a "Sultan" for his statement on the Muslim-friendly launderette yesterday.
The video, which had been republished by several media organisations, had also shown Zamihan taking a hit at the Chinese community, deeming them dirty as they do not wash up after urinating or defecating.
In an immediate response, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the ministry would probe the matter and take immediate action over the speech.
