CONTINENTAL Tyre Malaysia conducted a product launch inviting selected individuals, including the media, to test its latest tyres, the MaxContact MC6.
The event held at the Sepang International Circuit welcomed an enthusiastic crowd, anxious in getting a feel of the product of German-made technology, described as “crucial, on the road to ‘Vision 2025’”.
IMPROVED AND ENHANCED
According to Continental Tyre Malaysia managing director Cameron Wilson, the MC6 tyre is designed to meet the needs of the driver and the demands of road conditions, made using the best available high technology methods from Continental’s R&D centre in Germany. The tyres will be manufactured locally at Continental’s plant in Alor Star.
MC6 tyres carry features evident of the acronym called M.A.X. which reveal:
▶ a Multifunctional tread design to provide drivers with superb grip and enhanced safety, reducing the braking distance on both wet and dry conditions;
▶ the inclusion of Adaptive grip compound for superior grip levels that engage with road surfaces and provide better safety; and
▶ Xtreme force construction that provides maximum control, better handling and improved cornering – reducing tyre flexing at high speed cornering and comfort at low speeds.
FAVOURED AND AFFORDABLE
With the exceptional M.A.X. features, one might assume MC6 tyres carry a hefty price tag. Instead, Wilson said: “We are not involved in setting the price for the end consumer as our main business is with dealers. However, we want to make the product affordable for the premium sporting segment despite the cost we put into the product. Hence, you will probably notice the pricing of the MC6 similar to the MC5, perhaps with a slight increase.”
He added, “Affordability is key and pricing is important to us. As such we want to price the MC6 at the right level so that the reception will be as great as the MC5 and consumers in Malaysia can benefit from the technology and find pleasure and content in its performance.”
ON THE ROAD AHEAD
Continental Tyre Malaysia national sales manager Sim Wee Chung shared his view on the MC6.
“The impression and feedback we have received on the new product has been very positive. Dealers are eager to sell the MC6 as soon as it is available. We managed to satisfy the keen expectations our clients have, that our product is always one step up from its predecessor,” Sim said.
Sim also shared that the MC6 tyre portfolio can accommodate rims between diameters of 16in and 19in with more sizes to roll out at the end of this year.
