MPAJ urged to stop business complex construction at taman muda market

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has been urged to immediately stop the construction of a business complex at Taman Muda market in Ampang, which is considered to be a waste and is expected to affect over 400 traders.
Pandan MCA chief Datuk Leong Kok Wee said the issue had been raised several times by the residents and traders before, but he claimed the MPAJ did not take any action, in fact the construction project has continued without any hindrance.
Leong who expressed disappointment over the MPAJ's approval of the project in a press conference today said, the Teratai state assemblyman Tiew Way Keng was seen trying to manipulate the market traders on the issue.
He said the project which began last February would not benefit the traders since the entertainment centre would be built on the market reserve land at the area.
"The MPAJ's action in approving the entertainment centre licence is also against the state government and local authority policy to stop issuing licence for family entertainment centres," he said. — Bernama
